Guarantee

We want you to have success with all of your plant purchases from Gemmell’s and enjoy your plants for many years to come. Occasionally plants do not survive. We provide a 1-year limited warranty on most of our trees & shrubs.

Please read through our 1-year guarantee policy so you understand what is and is not covered.

We will warranty most trees, shrubs and evergreens for one year. Please review exceptions in the list below.

*Exceptions (no warranty)

Nursery stock: Butterfly Bush * Holly * Japanese Maple * Magnolia * Perennial Hibiscus * Rhododendron * Rose of Sharon

Annuals, perennials, hanging baskets & houseplants/tropicals are NOT guaranteed.

*please note that occasionally there are other plants that fall under this exception category. Please read your receipt.

Why are These Plants Not Guaranteed?

They are plants that many of our customers want but are borderline hardy. Often an extremely harsh winter can result in loss or die back. Gardeners who love these plants feel it is worth the risk to enjoy their beauty. If you purchase a plant without a guarantee take extra care in mulching heavily and protecting it from winter winds.

SAME SEASON GUARANTEE on roses & fruit trees. This means we will guarantee your plants throughout the summer until Fall but not overwinter. Please note that we only bring in roses & fruit trees that are hardy here but the harsh winters of the Ottawa Valley sometimes can result in loss.

EXPLANATION OF GURANTEE Plants are guaranteed if they are planted correctly in a suitable location, properly cared for and watered, and protected from harsh winter winds.

FALL WARRANTY CUT-OFF DATE If your plant was purchased after September 15th and at more than 20% discount the guarantee does not apply.

I Think My Plant Has Died, Now What?

If you are unsure if your plant is dead please email photos to hello@gemmellsgardencentre.com first. Many customers dig out plants that are simply late to leaf out or have a small amount of

wind damage that the plant will grow through. We cannot guarantee plants in these cases.

If your plant is eligible for the guarantee, we require that you bring back the dead plant back to one of our garden centers with your receipt.

We will store credit you the amount you paid (including tax) for your plant at the time of your purchase. This amount can be used towards a replacement of the same plant or anything else you choose.

The amount can also be put on a Gemmell’s Gift Card for future use. If there is a price difference the customer must cover it at the time of exchange.

Replacement plants (either the same as originally purchased or those purchased with the credit provided) are NOT guaranteed.

If you have any questions or concerns we are always here to help.
